About Us

We are an Auckland-based company focusing on assisting senior citizens to relocate as they downsize their household contents, and move from their current home to a smaller place in the neighbourhood or a retirement village. We understand the importance of looking after our seniors as they age, and the assistance they may need from time to time, especially when moving house.

Christopher Graham

Greetings! My name is Chris, and I am the founder and manager of Senior Moving Company Limited.

Some years ago, I helped my parents when they had decided to move into a cottage in a retirement village, as well as assisted living. I understand the huge amount of work involved in dealing with furniture and belongings, being the Power of Attorney for property, and making arrangements with various professionals, like lawyers, real estate agents, tradespeople, retirement village managers, utility providers, etc. I understand the stress of making this move.

Unfortunately, I had seen a lot of indiscretions in business over my time and witnessed some service providers cutting corners instead of providing the very best for their customers at a fair price. So, I decided I wanted to help other senior people with their move, bringing my experience, honesty and professionalism to the service, making the whole move less stressful – physically and emotionally.

Offering a wide range of services from which customers can choose is the best way to help every individual with their unique needs. We focus on honouring each person’s wishes at a high standard of professionalism.

About Christopher Graham

I was born in Christchurch in the 1960s. I have worked in two industries most of my life – the music industry, and as a Language Teacher to international students. I am currently Music Director/Organist at All Saints’ Anglican Church in Howick.

While I was still a young man, my mother died suddenly. A few years later, my father married again. Sadly, his second wife eventually developed Alzheimer’s in the early 2000s. We kept her at home for as long as we could, but it came to the stage where, for her own safety, she went into specialist care, which was very hard on my father. A few years later, my father moved to a retirement village where he happily spent his twilight years.

During this difficult time, I saw some excellent service providers that operated in healthcare and related services for my step-mother and father. Unfortunately, it was here too that I witnessed some very unprofessional and arguably illegal practices, particularly those involving property, and in the healthcare sector. I also saw some nasty individuals take advantage of my father’s gentle and trusting personality for financial gain.

These experiences have stayed with me ever since. Since a lot of my music and language work dried up when the global Covid-19 pandemic reached New Zealand in early 2020, I decided I would instead spend my time helping other senior citizens in their time to make sure they get the honest service, respect, and support they deserve.
